Edinburgh

Beautiful Edinburgh town, Scotland's capital, amazingly only 3 million people in the whole of Scotland and, under 400,000 in the capital.  Also voted the best place to live in the UK.  Edinburgh is a must for families and couples.  Besides the beautiful countryside that is within minutes of the city centre, it has one of the most magnificent cityscapes in the world, the Edinburgh Castle which dominates the popular and busy Princess Street.

The hotels and restaurants can rival London but it's uniquely a Scottish experience.  Try and go during one of their famous festivals, if you can stand the crowds, better still 'Hogmanay' (New Years' Eve).
